Those who’ve read my book The Feeling Is Actual should be familiar with my obsession/devotion to Nolan’s visionary Batman films: my poem “Batman That One” appears in the fifth chapter of my book, a piece that emerged from the three screenings of The Dark Knight that I took in during its theatrical run. Not surprisingly, I already secured tix for the IMAX screening of The Dark Knight Rises in a couple of weeks, without question the film that matters most of all to me during this golden summer of comic book movies. I know Ledger’s Joker is a tough villain to follow, but I’ve grown to love the character of Bane via Gail Simone’s brilliant Secret Six, my favorite (anti) superhero team comic next to Mignola’s BPRD the last couple of years. Plus, I’m a huge fan of Tom Hardy, so I expect nothing less than to be blown away when I see the dark knight rising one final time.
